Volunteer Appreciation Dinner & Annual Meeting

On Sunday, December 8 Habitat for Humanity Sarasota gave its annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner and Annual Meeting at Church of the Palms in Sarasota.  The yearly event emphasizes the enormous value Habitat places on its many volunteers—construction, ReStore, committees and administration.

Close to 200 people gathered to recognize the huge contribution volunteers make daily that enable our organization to achieve its mission of providing affordable homes for deserving families in our community.

Pastor Bruce Hedgepath of The Church of The Palms provided the devotion. Church of the Palms was a gracious host to provide the venue for the evening in their main auditorium which was gaily decorated for the holidays.  A special thank you goes to Church of the Palms for underwriting this event.

Eight volunteers were recognized and received awards including Sarasota Association of Realtors who were given the Chairman’s award for the year; Sam Tutt was given the Family Support award and Andy Tughenhat was presented with the New Volunteer of the Year award (photos below.)

Other recipients included, BJ Everts, Restore Volunteer; Ceil Cooper, New Construction Volunteer; John Van Oss, Restoration Volunteer; John Dumbaugh, Legacy Award; and in memory Bill Greenawalt, Construction Legacy Award.  Publix, last year’s Chairman Award was represented by a table of their associates, including Habitat Board member Terry Ball.
