Lisa's journey with Habitat Sarasota began when she graduated from the Salvation Army's F.A.I.T.H. Program. She was determined to follow a new path and provide a safe and secure place to raise her family. That meant becoming a Habitat homeowner. Since December 2014, she has provided 318 volunteer hours toward her "sweat equity" requirement and participated in the Pathways to Homeownership classes. Lisa is thrilled to move into a house she can call her own.
We would like to extend our gratitude to more than 110 volunteers that provided 3,400 hours renovating this house. Organized volunteer groups that participated in the renovation were Stephen Gross-Ameriprise Financial Services Inc, University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, Raymond James and Notre Dame Club of Greater Sarasota.
In May 2015, volunteers began renovating the entire home, which included a new energy efficient heating and cooling unit, updating the electrical and plumbing systems and painting. The entire kitchen was remodeled and energy efficient appliances were installed. The home also has a new roof, carpeting and tile throughout.
