New Habitat Homeowner Thought She Could... And She Did.
Soon-to-be Habitat Sarasota homeowner Sarah Hunter has something in common with the main character of a well-loved children’s book, The Little Engine That Could. The reason? Because when it came to being a homeowner, Sarah, like the train going up that steep hill, thought she would accomplish her goal of homeownership. In a few weeks she will!
Ms. Hunter, who has a seven-year-old daughter, would be the first to tell you that things haven’t always been easy for her. She went through some rough times and found herself in the Salvation Army’s FAITH program, where she and her daughter were given a chance to start over.
“What do I need to get approved?” was the first question that popped in her mind, she remembers. Ms Hunter, a resilient and determined mother, and a dedicated employee at University Park Country Club will reach her ultimate goal of closing on her new Habitat home in May 2015, then it’s move in time!
It’s the backyard she is looking forward to the most, with a place – finally – for her daughter to play and be able to ride her bike in her new, safe neighborhood!
Funding: Proceeds from the 2014 Fore the Love of Habitat charity golf tournament paired with a sponsorships from the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation and L3 Communications, Habitat Sarasota was able to build a new three bedroom house with attached one-car garage in Lake Sarasota.
