This year, Habitat for Humanity Sarasota proudly celebrates 40 years of building hope, stability, and opportunity in our community. At Habitat Sarasota, we are more than homes; we are a developer, builder, lender, retailer, and educator. These roles allow us to create affordable housing solutions, provide essential repairs, operate a ReStore that sustains our mission, and equip families with the knowledge and tools to succeed as homeowners.
Over the past year, we welcomed 18 new homeowners, completed 30 Critical Home Repairs, and celebrated the completion of Hammock Place, our 40-home neighborhood. Looking ahead, we plan to serve almost 100 families over the next two years. We will do this by building 34 homes and continuing to provide critical repairs for 60 more homeowners in need. Soon, we will break ground on Avion, our highly anticipated 17-townhome community right in the heart of Sarasota, bringing even more families closer to the dream of homeownership!
But we need your help! The need for affordable housing in Sarasota County is greater than ever. According to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County’s Community Indicator Dashboard, low-income individuals are spending more than 40% of their income on housing in Sarasota, leaving little for healthy food, healthcare needs, childcare, or other essentials. And these are the families we serve.
