As Florida rebuilds from Hurricane Irma, Habitat for Humanity Sarasota and FCCI Insurance Group (FCCI) are joining together with dozens of volunteers and community members to hold a slab blessing for one deserving Sarasota family.
The slab blessing will take place Friday, September 22, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at 1843 Country Meadows Dr, Sarasota where a new Habitat residence is scheduled to begin construction.
The slab blessing is the first of its kind for Habitat Sarasota and is a unique opportunity for the community to rally together after Hurricane Irma. Please join us as we begin construction on the fourth house sponsored by FCCI through the Community Contribution Tax Credit Program (CCTCP), paired with proceeds from the 2017 Fore the Love of Habitat fundraiser.
“In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, Habitat Sarasota is grateful that we can resume construction on this residence as scheduled and that none of our Habitat homes sustained major damage from the storm,” says Renee Snyder, Executive Director.
Corporate partnerships provide a lasting investment in the community. Three years ago, FCCI had the vision to partner with Habitat Sarasota through the CCTCP. This tax credit program is designed to encourage private investment within Florida Enterprise Zones, assist low-income housing projects in Florida and promote volunteerism. Employees from FCCI will provide a minimum of 200 volunteer hours to build this home.
“FCCI is delighted to lay the foundation today on its fourth Habitat for Humanity home. Our teammates are excited about getting involved and volunteering their time on the job site: helping the new homeowner face the future with confidence,” says Bonnie Dezii, FCCI Assistant Vice President, Claims and Habitat Sarasota Board Member.
