Finding a solution for affordable housing is on the minds of many of our community leaders, government officials, and corporations in Sarasota. A broader commitment to housing options for working families is critical to the continued growth and prosperity of Sarasota and Habitat Sarasota is committed to working with our partners in the community to meet this challenge.
“Two years into our four-year strategic plan we are debt free, we have families in the pipeline and we have land inventory. We are confident that we will meet our goal to serve 66 families by June 30, 2020” says John Peshkin, Board Chair, and founder/principal at Vanguard Land, a private real estate investment group.
Community Impact included:
- 13 families now have an affordable mortgage and are no longer rent burdened.
- 9 homes are under construction
- Habitat Sarasota owns 47 buildable lots for future homes
- Habitat Sarasota generated more than $250,000 to Sarasota County in permit fees, impact fees, and property taxes.
