Colette
Colette has worked as an insurance underwriter for the same company for 10 years. She is a hardworking mom supporting her two daughters. Cyriah, 21, is currently attending State College of Florida finishing her prerequisites to major in IT at the University of South Florida. Milaun is looking forward to entering her freshman year at Booker High School. The girls have always shared a single, small bedroom in their cramped apartment so having their own bedroom is a BIG deal.
Colette applied for homeownership with Habitat Sarasota because she wanted to escape the burden of rising rent year after year. The rent on her tiny two-bedroom apartment was going up each year and was stretching her budget. She was paying more for the same crowded living conditions and the age of the apartment was starting to show. She also wanted a foundation for the future of her daughters; a home they could always rely on; a home that gave them their own space.
Affordability was key. Colette and her daughters are grateful to have a permanent, affordable home. “I am overjoyed and blessed to provide a home to my girls. This home makes all the difference for us. It gives my daughters hope and confidence.”
Colette beams from ear to ear when she describes her daughters decorating their own room with their personal touches.
“We are truly very grateful for Stock Homes to partner with Habitat Sarasota to provide my family with an affordable home. It definitely makes a difference because there is a great need in Sarasota.”
