Habitat for Humanity Sarasota partnered with Sunset Automotive Group, Stock Development, Publix Supermarkets Charities, and Warrick Dunn Charities to make dreams a reality for two single mothers in Sarasota. They both became first-time homeowners through Habitat Sarasota’s affordable homeownership program, and on July 13, Erica and Lauren were each greeted with the unexpected gifts of a $5,000 down-payment assistance to be applied toward their mortgage principal and turnkey furnishings through Warrick Dunn Charities.

Welcome Home Erica
Erica’s dreams and goals revolve around her three teens. Working six days a week was for them so that she could grant their wishes of a home and their own room. Her day off, spending quality time with her kids getting ice cream, watching movies, or whatever their hearts desire, is the day that rejuvenated her to keep going. Erica’s journey to homeownership was filled with heartache and obstacles, but she believed everything happens for a reason, so she just put this in God’s hands. Because of the affordable homeownership program offered through Habitat Sarasota, she finally achieved her homeownership goal and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Welcome Home Lauren
Lauren, an administrative assistant, reached out to Habitat Sarasota for help when her rental was in dire need of repairs resulting in health and safety issues for her and her two young daughters. Now her face beams with happiness and hope when speaking about her future and the possibilities for her and her girls. Homeownership and a life-changing opportunity will give Lauren the ability to better her life, and she can’t wait to do the same for others.
